January W/C 19th

First week Being a grandparent

First off I have to take my hat off to my eldest Son Lewis and his Fiancé Chloe, they have taken to parenthood like ducks to water, I’m not one for showing emotions easily but I have an immense sense of pride and happiness that Nora is healthy and happy and the Parents are doing so well.

I must admit that a certain amount of adjustment has obviously had to be made which I’ve found hard and need to take time to adjust myself to the situation Its nothing new I find this with any change be it small or large, On Thursday I took them all to the registrar’s office to make Nora official and it was the first time that Lewis, Chloe and Nora had gone out together as a family.

Photographically wise I have got myself a Sigma 30mm F1.4,

Its a fantastic little lens with a caveat, Although it is listed as an Rf mount it is not listed as an APS-C lens when buying from Currys, this means that when its added to my R6mk2 it automatically puts the camera into crop sensor mode of 1.6 with roughly converts the 30mm into a 45.5mm lens and the megapixel count is also halved to 9.78 mpx, So as long as I dong need to do any massive crops I am fine and I can I get the benefit of using the lens as a portrait lens too, the images at F1.4 ar crisp and sharp and its great to have auto focus unlike on the 7Artisans lens I had been using.

I took it out for a try on Wednesday and tried some candid environmental portraits.

I actually really enjoyed shooting like this and will be trying more in the near future.

Today I have recorded and posted a Youtube,Tiktok and Instagram reel, this is the start of this years video project where I will be documenting and sharing my photography outings, I haven’t given myself a schedule as yet, this is due to me mostly shooting at night and I will only record if I feel safe to do so but it would be great If I managed one a month to start.
